That SMPV is just a great looking vehicle hands down. I would really like to have one of those someday.

Come to Ripon in October. The owner of an original '89 SMPV is working to get his car there for the show....it will be a first:

Oh, and if your Nevada car runs, clean it up and bring it to enter in the daily driver class. Everybody loved seeing my in-progress car the four times I showed it there prior to getting it "finished*".

That SMPV would be a cool one to see returned to in-service condition.

Assuming this is another angle of the same/or similar white CHP SSP?

Nope, different location and a different unit, this one is a '92:

Isn't it interesting to note that when they repainted the later cars into SMPVs (all of them in an overall white scheme), they left the beltline mouldings black even though technically they should have gone white also to emulate the monocromatic look of the '92 and up models. :)

Question: the seller I got my items from said his car was white. I believe he still has the trunk and the underside is also white. On a repaint, would they have bothered to spray the underside?

Just because it's white doesn't necessarily mean it was an SMPV. My CHP was painted white prior to sale, or it was transferred to another state entity. My dads 85 was also painted white.

"One Day" would paint everything but the engine bay.

To see if a car was an SMPV, you would need to have the unit # to get the assignment card. Assignment card is really the only way to confirm.

The color on that 89 SMPV is the same color my 89 NHP is supposed to be. The medium blue, Wedgwood(I think?). I find it odd that CHP would repaint a B&W a factory color. Wouldn't you think when their shop would repaint a car it would be just a color off the shelf. Has the owner of this car verified the color yet?

As for Ripon I would love to bring my car. I need to put a clutch in it first.

EDIT: Not wedgewood. But Medium Shadow Blue.
