New tire experiences
I know options on correct size tires have become fewer, with each passing year. It's been several years since the last time I purchased new tires for an SSP. Of late, what are folks finding available that you like? I am going to need to buy some new tires in the near future for 1992 / 1993 model years, and curious of recent experiences. Thank you!

Youre right about there being limited choices in 225/60R15 tires. I put a set of these Generals (in 18") on my wife's 2018 Escape -
https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tires.j...omCompare1=yes It rode much better than the OEM Continetal tires. No issues to report for the year or so before selling the truckster. |
Thanks for the feedback, it seems will only become more difficult as time passes. Whatever happened with the gatorback ones that were being re-popped? Not sure I'd be up to spend as much as those sold for, but someone used to post about them regularly here and I don't recall seeing anything lately. I don't recall seeing remanufactured Eagle GTs (if I have the name right) like what SSPs used.

I have the mentioned tires - they are not a performance tire and as hard as a rock. My SSP is my daily driver, but I wish better options were avaialbe. Here are the links to the Goodyear Eagle VR60 tires - https://www.kelseytire.com/performan...gatorback-bsl/
Now that LMR has come out with 10 Hole wheels in 17 inches, I will buy a set of those in black so that I can get modern performance tires. |
I ended up getting BF Goodrich Raidal TAs in the original size for my 1993 MSHP SSP. Took it on a longer drive too/from a car show, last Saturday. They have quite a nice ride and look good, too!

My son and I attended the Mustang and Ford show yesterday, at the Gilmore Car Museum. It was a 4 hour round trip drive…very pleased with these tires.
