Northern Utah newbee, my 1st V8 Fox body an 85 SSP

Good day Ford friends!

I was very fortunate to have bumped into some fellas gushing over my 85 SVO, on a completely unique salvage yard visit of mine that day. A phat Ford conversation ensued and they revealed that their brother has an 85 Mustang cop car that he was "unable" to sell.

Treading lightly I obtained their contact info. After lots of back and fourth phone tag, then several visits to see and dust off this alleged "police" LX 5.0 notch, I determined (with your help, thanks SSM.net) that it's a legit SSP, struck up a deal, and got her out of there before anyone changed their mind.

I'm super stoked to finally own a V8 Fox notch, and thanks againto SSM.net learned how to ID an SSP car.
I've owned numerous Mustang SVO's over the years dating back to the late 80's, but never ANY other Foxes until now.
Clearly IMO the best thing about 2020 that's happened in my world.
My sons and I are really psyched to get this special girl all gussied up with all the customary and special OEM accoutrements we can get our hands on.

Looking forward to quality forum chat with you knowledgeable enthusiasts.

Respectfully,
Rosco

Welcome to the site. What agency was your '85 with?

Agency inquiry hypothesis

Hello and thank you.

That's a fine question indeed. My best guess is that she was a Utah Highway Patrol car. I do not know for certain but will research it.

Perhaps the buck tags and door tag could provide clues?

I did recover the severely compromised build sheet beneath the passenger seat carpet. It was essentially 1/2 and 1/2 fused to the floor pan and the carpet matting. Pretty bad shape, but somewhat readable.
I took several pics of it before removing what could be recovered. I estimate about 50-60 percent of the information can be decoded.

In the meantime any other tips you have on determining the original agency would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Regards,
Rosco

Welcome and gonna need some pics. The buck tags should tell the story on the agency.

Pics, buck tags, etc. Check out the VIN project as well.

I can decode the VIN, door tag, buck tag(s), and build sheet, and also the owner card if you have it, and transmission tag, axle tag, engine calibration label, carb tag, ...
