FHP car

Hey guys, the owner was told a unmarked patrol car can it be proven or disproven by door tag? DSO 24 0237 trim 2PPSS #'s above DSO F0134 and R0218 any help??? Thanks, Bobby

Bobby,

It's difficult to prove anything via the DSO number (the order number, not the sales office portion) alone. In 1993, FHP did order a bunch of cars, and the DSOs for the unmarked cars were different than the marked cars. However, the orders appear to have been filled in batches that year, so the VINs are all over the place. 24 is the right sales office.

The other numbers you posted are for spring codes (the PPSS) and the "accessory reserve load" (F and R numbers)...I still have no idea what the "load" numbers mean.

$2500 has rust in trunk floor it's a 88. Has non painted 10 holes on car painted 10 hole in trunk.140 speedo certified calibrated. Said it has a tag in dash BHSMV something about vehicle belongs to DHSMV and #'s 8147 does this mean anything to you? Interior looks like @#&*. Claims it runs good been sitting about 6 years.

Yeah...I need to add the DHSMV tag info to the FHP Resto Area. That is a property number tag (sticker), which they usually put in the glove-box on the later cars. It doesn't relate to the unit number, but it is a good indication that the car was an FHP car.

Is the guy claiming it's an unmarked car?

FHP car

Yes. That's what he was told by the previuos owner. He claims to know nothing about these cars just what he was told when he purchased it. I had him look on the door tag and he claims he can find no letters or numbers anywhere around the Ext. paint code. I was hoping for some clue there. I'm looking at this one and the NE car at present time. The NE (really a Kansas car) Has had lower Quarters put on, interior dyed black and lord knows where else rust could be.He's sticking to $2850 this FHP car has rust in trunk probanly other places too for $2500. It's a little closer... Which do you beleive to be better deal or rarer?

ImEvil1 10-28-2007 11:00 PM

You'd have to verify the Kansas car....you really have to be careful with the sales office codes, as the cars weren't always used by the state agencies closest to the sales office. If it's really a KS car, it'd be pretty rare. If the FL car is really an unmarked car, it'd be equally as rare. The unmarked cars were usually autos, but I saw several 5 speeds go through the auctions, too.

Pics of both would help us help you. :)

Is the rust on the trunk lid or the trunk pan itself? That would make a big difference in how hard it is to repair.

Trunk floor... I'm a painter/Body man by profession but it Makes me wonder if it's there where else is it? Frame rails for instance... Ohh by the way he claims the previous owner had it painted green. says you can see tan around the rubber bumpers on inside of trunk.FHP?

If it had cream paint on it.....definitely not an unmarked car.
