My 90 GSP falls in a order of 57 consecutive Vins. The last 6 digits are1888094. I was wondering if those 57 ssp's were all GSP's ?

It's a fair question, but the answer may be difficult to determine. For example, the batch of VIN's for my 85 CHP is larger than what the CHP ordered. FoxChassis stated in another thread that my car was the last VIN for the CHP cars (assuming that the first car in the batch was part of the CHP order). Also, there is a known 85 Oregon car a few numbers after my VIN. So there could be multiple agencies contained within the same VIN batch. There also may be some civilian cars contained within the same VIN batch.

How about this one Louisiana DPS car # 5833 VIN # 1FABP40E1KF205906. Thanks,Bobby

Texunter's Louisiana DPS's last 6 are 205913. Are the two in a consecutive run together and if so how many? Thanks, Bobby...

Would it be safe to say that since 1FABP40E0KF193391 is a documented TX SSP (last in a large group of TX SSP VINs) and that 1FABP40E0KF193411 is the last VIN in this sequence, that the list of 20 VINs below accounts for all 20 of the MN State Patrol SSPs? I own the two highest VINs in the list and 1FABP40E0KF193396 is the lowest verified VIN (owned by a collector in WI). I suppose there could be 5 other non-MN SSP VINs before 193396 and then 5 more MN SSP VINs after 193411, but that does not seem too likely given that the next batch sequence is so much higher than 193411.

What you've said sounds reasonable, but we would need to get some type of documentation to know for sure. Even pulling a CARFAX on certain VIN's might help show where those cars initially went.

I'm excited about getting into the web content aspect of putting this information together. It will be nice to see some tangible progress on this project.

28HopUp 01-12-2012 10:23 AM

Links to a bunch of the 85's were just activated on our VIN Project. These were mostly CHP cars. Of the 155 units ordered that year by the CHP, 13 are now featured on the 1985 Consecutive VIN Page (about 2/3 of the way down the page).

Thanks for your patience as we work on these pages. If you've already sent us pictures of your car's documentation - THANK YOU! We will get to them as soon as we can. It's a tedious project for sure, but should be well worth the effort.

I will e-mail you the other pics so I want use up so much space :-)

28HopUp 01-13-2012 10:08 AM

Bobby, thanks for the pictures and VIN's. New pages were done for your 89 GA car, the 90 GSP car, and the 90 CHP. :)

Currently, our VIN Project has documented 65 SSP's of various years. I've been in contact with many members (with at least 20+ more SSP's) who are in the process of collecting pictures and sending them in.

If you would like your car included in our project, please send me a PM or email - 28HopUp [at] gmail [dot] com (use the symbols and remove the spaces). We are looking for pictures of VIN labels (with DSO's), buck tags, agency ID tags or markings, assignment cards, notations on title with unit number, DMV registration history, Eminger Invoices, Marti Reports, etc. So regardless of forum affiliation if you own a SSP, please contribute to our project.

28HopUp 01-23-2012 11:56 PM

Due to a HUGE outpouring of support by the members, we now have over 100 SSP pages hyperlinked in our VIN Project. THANK YOU all for your support! If you sent in information to us but the link to your car isn't working yet, please be patient as we are still working through the backlog of information. We will continue to activate more links as we work our way through. We are still looking for more documentation (for listed SSP's, and ones yet to be included in our project), so please send in what you can.

Thanks again!

28HopUp 01-27-2012 12:07 PM

I'm not going to keep giving play-by-play updates, but we're now up to 135 pages to document each car as a SSP.

:2thumbs:

There are still 26 more SSP's to go in the 90-93 group, plus another set "pending" with 41 cars where we are trying to gather more documentation before publishing them. So please keep 'em comin'!

Holy Toledo!! I just noticed the Idaho car too thanks for the hard work guys!!

EXNODRAMANOTCH 01-27-2012 08:19 PM

Great work guys! I'm in contact with another MN State Patrol Mustang owner here in MN (apparently some of the 20 MN SSPs were given by the State of MN to County Law Enforcement Departments when new and this guy has acquired and restored one of them) and I may soon have his VIN and other information to pass along.

Got the VIN today, and it is from a later order of 3 consecutive SSPs (not the consecutive 20). The owner is going to talk to the Sheriffs Department about how they acquired the SSP. The owner told me he thought there were 2 other ones that had been issued by the state in a similar fashion. He also told me that it had silver 10-holes in service, but no mud flaps (unlike all the photos of the MN SSPs) and that the trunk release was NOT in the glovebox (like the other known 20 MN SSPs), but to the left of the steering wheel on the lower dash. I asked him to get me a photo of the buck tags and door sticker when he gets the car out of storage in the spring. All I have for now is the VIN: 1FAP40E6KF214357

28HopUp 01-30-2012 04:33 PM

Sweet! I'll be happy to add the VIN/buck pictures to our project. :)

So do you think it was a MN State Patrol SSP or a separate Sherriff Dept purchase of some sort?

When he gave me the VIN today he said that when he acquired the SSP at auction in 2000 the Sheriff had told him that there were a couple of more SSPs that the MN State Patrol had released to other MN law enforcement agencies at the same time. I ran the VIN here and it is the middle 1 in a group of three listed. The owner is now going back to talk to the Sheriff to get some more info for me. I love a good mystery!

EXNODRAMANOTCH 01-30-2012 08:58 PM

Also, I found out today (talked to Jeremy/bluesspcoupe) that he sold his MN SSP last October to a collector I know here in the Twin Cities and he will be restoring it back to stock (I'm waiting on a call from him to get more details). This thread (http://www.specialservicemustang.net...=minnesota+ssp) had images of the buck tags, but I don't know if the VIN was submitted. The thread talks about the build date and it is the same as my 2 MN SSPs.

I just looked at that thread again and the subtitle is "MN#681013" which is the Property of the State of Minnesota barcode sticker and that number is 1 number before my latest MN SSP barcode sticker on the driver's door A-pillar (my other MN SSP had the sticker removed when it was repainted in 1997).
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info193410.htm
What are the odds of that? (I guess 1 in 20)

28HopUp 01-31-2012 01:48 PM

Pretty cool! With that information, MN#681013 ('89 VIN of ...193404) was added to our project.

ChrisL 02-02-2012 09:37 PM

So a quick question, when Unit #s are known, why don't we want to post them on the VIN project? It seems like it would be good to know if particular units are accounted for and help to identify numbering patterns... Just wondering?

28HopUp 02-02-2012 09:43 PM

Chris, we've been listing unit numbers on the individual car pages when the number is confirmed. Here's an example of the unit number being included on a car's page -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info231686.htm

If you see an instance where the number hasn't been included, then please let one of us know.

ChrisL 02-03-2012 11:29 AM

I guess just my car, 86 VIN 229990. I need to check though and make sure I sent you the copy of the unit number. I also sent the junkyard '86 DPS, but maybe because there were no buck-tag pictures it was not added to the list?

texunter 02-03-2012 09:32 PM

While cleaning out my car, I found the literature for an 88 and it has the warranty card with unit number if you care to add a deceased car.
It may help another person if their car fell inline with it.
Ted

28HopUp 02-03-2012 09:58 PM

Chris, your car now has the unit added to the page.
