Unit number ?

I have a 1992 Mich State Police LX Coupe (buck tags and all) which I have
had for about 5 years. Completely re-done with a Supercharged
DSS 331 w/AFR heads (and much more) (its listed on Craigslist). My
question is how would I obtain the "unit number" of my Mustang.

ok guys....

30 veiws and no replys ? Is it that stupid of a question ?
Its not life or death, I was just wondering.

There are only a couple of people who own Michigan Cars here.

Why do you need the unit number? Are you restoring the car back to in service?

MOstang 06-28-2009 05:17 PM

I don't think that by striking that type of tone is going to encourage much support from members here.

92ssp331Mustang 06-28-2009 08:33 PM

NO TONE, really !!!!

I WAS JUST JOKING. I WAS WORRIED THAT IT MAY REALLY BE A STUPID QUESTION. SOMEONE HAD ASKED IF I KNEW THE UNIT NUMBER, AND HAD REALLY NEVER GAVE IT ANY THOUGHT. MAYBE MICHIGAN MOTOR-POOL?
(IF THEY KEEP RECORDS THAT FAR BACK).....SORRY BOUT THE "TONE".
I WAS REALLY JUST TRYING TO BREAK THE ICE, so to speak. Oh, not
restoring it back to service. Its my daily driver.

I'm astonished by your level of sincerity considering using all caps is a sign of yelling in written communication.

We encourage originality and restoration, but I'll tell you that I saw the pics of your car, and it's definitely nice (looks like it was done right). We're all about preservation of the cars here, too, and yours definitely looks like it was well taken care of. The SSP identity is certainly missing, but at least the car isn't all hacked up and could be restored back to MI specs one day.

Are you selling it? You mentioned Craigslist, so that's why I'm asking.

I own an 89 MSP car. When I bought it there were documents in the glove box (speedometer certifications) that had the unit number on it. You might try calling MSP fleet headquarters with the vin. I doubt you will get anywhere with them but you never know. Bruce Howard might also be able to help you as he is the MSP guru. MSP designated the unit number depending on where the car was stationed thru out the state. The license plate used was the unit number also.
