KHP

The EVOC sale is out now i know Mike is the guy to finish what i started. i can't afford a car i have 20k into sitting in a garage. I sold it and bought the 92 KHP car nice car needs some work on interior and mods removed but happy with it. It's a confirmed Kansas car by the bucktags and door decal. Love the Kansas colors will try to take pictures of tags but can only see from under car.

ImEvil1 11-21-2007 12:15 PM

Nice score. :)

guerro 11-21-2007 01:13 PM

ImEvil1 11-21-2007 01:34 PM

A guy named Mike, Vintangeracer.

Welcome to the fun! I have been battling with the same issues with the Colorado car, and there were many more of those in-service than with KHP. I have even talked to two CSP officers (one of whom drove my '83 in service), and neither could remember what equipment was inside the cars back then.

Many calls, time spent on research, and some luck, and I'm almost there. :)

I hope so, too. Good luck with it.

John,

Congrats again on the sale of the EVOC car. Everything you did to that car was outstanding. Good luck with the new ride!

Paint scheme is the roof grey and the trunk lid grey the remainder is blue. But i like the way it's painted like the FHP scheme.

jarhed123 11-24-2007 10:47 AM

I like how the paint looks on the car :) . IMO I would change the wheels to the 10 holes.

Kansas also used the Mustangs to patrol the Turnpike, they were marked as "Turnpike" cars and painted various colors. I've seen a picture of one somewhere, I'll try and find it.

Here's one from Ginzburg's collection. Note the Turnpike decal under the door emblem. The car also has a different style front plate which KS does not require.

So are you going to restore it to marked condition like this picture? That would be soooo cool! One thing about the rear deck lights in this picture...the round lamps are halogen amber flashers. KS has a statute that states emergency vehicles are to display 2 flashing amber lights to the rear.

I'm not doing paint it's staying the way it is because it's fresh paint and money issues. Thanx for the info i bought some amber ones because all the pictures of Kansas cars show amber. Do you know what the big square in the middle of back window is?

mustangretriever 11-27-2007 02:43 PM

Yes, it's a Federal Signal light just like what's in the windshield. Except I think it would have had a red/blue split lense.

ImEvil1 11-27-2007 04:09 PM

Great info Eric.

I told John that I thought the front light was a firebeam (w/the mirror). Is that what you think?

mustangretriever 11-27-2007 08:48 PM

Yes, the front and back are both Fed Sig Firebeams with the "Ultra-Flash" shield which flashes a 7 pulse signal to it's front. Man, am I an equipment dork or what?

We need specialists like you for things like this, i already bought a brand new uf7 mirror on ebay have one with the light on the way from Texas. How would it be split blue and red? I'm thinking they used the suction mount for fire beam front and back with one hole in front for stability?
