1987 Texas DPS?

So where were things located in them? I see they used several different types of lights in and around the dash as well as the radar gun setups. I am just confused as to where the speaker for the radio goes as well as the radar gun BOX. I have everything I need to get all this stuff installed and I want to get the interior of the car in and set or know where everything goes.

I need to make a reference doc for my installation of these items as well as documenting there locations with pictures.

I know Roman has quite a few but was wondering if Tony Scharp might have more or anyone know of any Troopers in Texas that drove Mustangs that might have some?

I will ask the one trooper I know that drove a Mustang and see if he might know others that did and if they have pictures as well...

Matt,

Here is a pic of an '87....I'm still working on the Texas Resto doc, thanks to Tony S. and Roman C., who provided a ton of pics and info.

A '90, also.

Yep the first one I had forgotten about and it shows 2 shotguns in it as well as items mounted to the side of the center console. In the few 87 texas cars I have had I have never seen the holes on the side of the console indicating anything was mounted there. The shotgun on the passenger side is upside down and barrel pointed toward the firewall. The other is right side up on the driver side of the cernter console and barrel pointed to the back seat.

I have a different radar setup and I know they ran what I have in the 87 as well. It's different from what is pictured in the 1st picture.

In the pic, I see a Mini-14 .223. Is that what you are thinking is another shotgun?

You are absolutely right. I didin't look closely enough... It is also pointing toward the front of the car and it is right side up... Hmmm. I need to find a replica of that one for shows too. I remember them having the mini14 in the back seat running fron side to side with a shotgun back there instead of between the seats and center console. I guess I just didn't expect to see that there and thought it was a S/G.

I have holes in the trans tunnel behind the center console where something was mounted to the floor. I wonder if that was some type of cradle for the stocks of the guns. My 87's have not had any holes in the underside of the trunk for weapons there.

I can't seem to find pics right now but my 87 was/is set up with a canvas gun case mounted to the underside of the trunk lid with two simple "gun rack" brackets across the front of the back seat. Tony's pic shows one type of radar used and others were also utilized. Mine has the BEE doppler type with two (front/rear) antennas. If you look in the special events page of Mike R's site under the Ford 2003 Anniversary there are some pics of my car as well as Tony's. His site (Tony as well as Roman's) offer great pics of the various DPS set-ups.
