These were given to me by my friend retired Fleet Manager Jimmy Crump. They are a couple from the batch of 100 1988's. This one is a lone 88 (unknown Perm/Unit #)... Pic's were taken at GSP HQ (Motor Pool) at 959 Confederate Ave.
This is just a snapshot from my iPad of the original 10X12 |

This one is my favorite. It's a group photo with the first two Perm #'s visible on windshield ( 8316 & 8314 ) . Third is illegible ... I had this one blown up poster size 20"X 24" , framed and hung in my office :-)
Hope you enjoy :-) |
Nice photos Bobby! Can you check your paperwork for those two perm numbers to find their VINs?
;) |

Ok,
We've all seen this picture a hundred times. Some if not most even know it's Trooper Sam Patrick one of GSP's driving instructors. Here's some previously unknown info to add to this pic; Sam Patrick: Badge 776 / post 46 1983 Mustang GSP Perm 3088 |

Ok guy's here's another infamous pic. This one is even in our in service pics on .net ...
Trooper Rick Ogden Badge 273 post 23 1988 GSP Mustang Perm 8284 VIN 1FABP40E3JF225797 What's really cool about this picture/officer/car is it is rumored to be the car used for the White Rose GSP Mustang . Get yours out and look 273 maybe it's true maybe just a coincident? Either way just thought you guys might enjoy putting name and car numbers with pics we've all seen numerous times. Got a few more I'm working on too... |
Very cool, Bobby!

Here's another pic that's been around for years...
And is in .nets Gallery... From retired Capt. C. Stallings; "It is the consensus of all the retired troopers that the trooper next to the Mustang is Ramone Rucker #797. The picture appears to be at GSP Headqurters in Atlanta and was taken whatever year the Mustang is." Trooper Ramone Rucker Badge 797 Post 48 That makes this 1991 GSP Mustang Perm 1184 VIN 1FACP40E4MF176490 |

It's really great what you're doing in connecting the vehicles with your paperwork and the assigned Troopers. :2thumbs:

Very cool! All these pics have been floating out there for so long and now we know who the troopers were and where they were stationed with the car!

1991 GSP Perm 1252
VIN 1FACP40E2MF176519 Trooper Jeff O'Kelly Badge 660 Post 37 |
If anyone has any GSP pics they would be willing to send me, I'd love to try and gather the info on them. In all fairness, they need to have a badge # or a Trooper in pic to be identified by. It may be possible if only a partial badge # is visible (say 2 out of the 3)... But those will be posted as possibles...
Or, if you want info on your GSP, I'm more than willing to help... PM or E mail me |

1988 GSP Perm 8348
VIN 1FABP40E4JF225758 Trooper Mike King Badge 305 Post 38 |
If you go back and really take a close look (despite popular belief) most of these GSP's DID NOT have rear deck lights...
|
I have a very special picture I'll be posting soon. Unfortunately it's pretty small and I'm gonna try to see what can be done to make Perm #'s out on three of the four cars in pic ( rear end not visible on last car).
It is the equivalent of a EVOC pic. GSP made the Troopers attend a orientation at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center ( GPSTC) in Forsyth Ga, before they were assigned a Mustang. It has four GSP Mustangs lined up on road course with a helmeted Trooper walking to one of the cars. |
You certainly have a knack for uncovering cool GSP stuff/photos!

Here's Rick Ogden's replacement SSP 0189. It replaced; 1988 GSP Mustang Perm 8284 VIN 1FABP40E3JF225797 Trooper Rick Ogden Badge 273 post 23 1990 GSP Mustang Perm 0189 VIN 1FACP40E2LF188121 Note appears to have NO REAR DECK LIGHTS. This one also has Alley lights. |
You're welcome, Bobby, any idea about the bumper sticker? Was it something the Trooper would have added?

Master Trooper Steve Black
Badge # 836 Post 9 Marietta 1990 GSP Perm # 0201 VIN 1FACP40E1LF210335 Trooper Black was issued 0201 used in 1994. He patrolled it for two years. It was crashed during the time of the Olympics in Atlanta in 96. Trooper Black was coming to assist in a high speed chase at the time. As he came around a sharp curve at a very high rate of speed, unbeknownst to him the primary Troopers had done a Felony stop. Trooper Black swerved across the median on the opposite side of roadway to slow down. At that exact time a motorist did a illegal U-turn. As Trooper Black went by the motorist plowed into the right door and quarter panel of Trooper Blacks Mustang. It was sold to a dealer in Cleveland Ga that bought resold and parted these car out. This one was partially parted out. A good friend of mine now has the body. It will be a very easy restoration needing only right door and quarter replace (along with parted out pieces). |

But here's my FAVORITE PIC SO FAR Tried to have Perm #'s made out but no luck... Still this is my favorite one... |
I can see why that one is your favorite!

Sure wish those Perm's could be made out... This was one of the first batches of 88' GSP's at orientation at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center ( GPSTC) in Forsyth, Ga. This would be the equivalent of a EVOC, although not as advance I'm told, as say CHP's. It was mainly to show Troopers the handling differences between a heavy Crown or Caprice and the more nimble lighter and quicker Mustangs. And I was told it was "to keep Post Commanders from getting sued if a Trooper got hurt or killed in a wreck because he was thrown into a lighter faster patrol car with out any training"... (Source withheld) but very reliable... |
