1985 CHP 8302 for sale

I am replacing the last ad for this car as there is a lot in it. This should help simplify things.

I have come to a cross roads and need to part with this car. Currently is a DAIL DRIVER, yes it is being driven daily.
I bought this car in 2006 and have taken good care of the car and have driven it a LOT since then. I had intentions of doing a complete restoration on it and just didn't find the time. My Daughter came in November 2006 and has really taken so much of my time I need to just get this car to someone that will love it like it should be and restored.

This car over the few years of ownership has recieved a new timing chain, water pump, thermostat, belt, hoses, headlight relay, clean and re dyed interior panels (all except the door panels). The only part that is not complete in the interior is the healiner. It's there but needs to be recovered and needs visors. I have a set of 4 - Goodyear Gatorback (used) that will go to the owner.

The A/C, rear defroster (scraped rear window lines), rear trunk pop and speedometer are the only things that don't work. The A/C was working when I got the car and stopped. I think it just needs a recharge (R-12). The speedometer has not worked since I got the car and it was indicated that the gear internally on the output shaft of the T-5 had a clip come loose. The trunk popper stopped working and is more than likely just the switch or a ground.

There are 4 original 85 center caps and steel wheels (HARD TO FIND next to impossible) with the chrome trim rings that were not that common on these cars either.

The key is a single key setup and I have at least 3 keys (all work).

The catalytic converter was changed as well as the Y-pipe (was an offroad setup) and the mufflers were worn out glass packs. I replaced them all at the same time with OEM ford parts (mufflers from a 2001 GT ith 5000 miles on them) the Y-pipe came from a T-bird and the catalytic converter is an aftermarket part since the car failed the first emissions test with the original cat on the Y-pipe. The original carburetor has been removed as it needs a rebuild and replaced with a edlebrock 1405 (this carb helped the car pass emissions with flying colors this time around). The rear antenna mount is not correct but have a ASP mount brand new for the car. The spotlights are not the CHP ones but are painted to be "CHP LIKE". They are not hooked up and I have not varified if they even work. They should though but not sure.

The bad stuff... The driver door has a bit of rust in it and I found out this weekend it is worse than I originally thought. I have a replacement door from an 84 but I will add that to the parts for then new owner as I didn't want to make that change. I am unsure how to transfer the door tag or replicate the "8302" from one door to the next. Might just be able to reskin it using the replacement door.

There is some rust under the car that I am pretty sure was caused by the leaking master cylinder and it is on the fire wall seem to the floor pan at the trans tunnel. The little bit that I have a picture of i hit with a wire wheel on my drill yesterday and it was just scale and I sealed it with some epoxy paint.

There is also a little bit of rust in the trunk on the floor right behind the passenger taillight. I think there is a leak in the trunk seal area where ther weather stripping is.

That is all the information on the car that I have. I will tell you this the car was purchased for $4750.00 and I am now asking $4500.00.

I am asking this because of the issues listed above. This car is a great car and deserves a restoration.

I have quite a bit of equipment for the car that is also FOR SALE to whoever buys the car.

The items that I have already sold are some that can be found easily enough (Roxter light and CHP trunk box) or built (shotgun rack I have a blueprint from the rack iteslf).

Man I wish it would have been $4500 when you were first selling it, I would have definitely picked it up. Good luck with the sale.

Ya, well I need to get some space cleared out and really need the $$$ to pay off a couple of debts. I was looking at the old price as what I had in the car and I can live with the price now. Some times you have to lose a little to move things.

I hear ya, I'm just sorry I missed the opportunity.:)

WOW 4 bids and $2025.00! I have no idea why this didn't get any more bids than it did. I guess everyone is looking for working A/C and EFI. No idea what is going to happen to this car.

Its just the car market right now. Nothing is selling for the "right" price.

OK I guess this is the last time I drop the price... I really want this car to stay within the SSP group. Next I may have to swap my Brother and sell his car so this can stay semi-modified.

$4000.00
