We went through your previous threads about the car and used those pictures on the page for our Project. We also included Florida DMV information about your SSP:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info240826.htm

In addition, we have just confirmed that block of 1988 FHP Mustangs (DSO #24-0237) with the latest batch of Marti Reports, and presently have 114 screenshots from the Florida DMV showing police-branded titles, which we will use to create pages for each SSP. :)

Hi Bill,
Got another GSP to add to VIN project. It's unit 1247 a 91 GSP pretty much untouched. original purchaser from state still owns it... Maybe that'll change soon ? Who knows I don't own a 91 lol :-)

That's great, Bobby! Here is the new page for this SSP using your pictures:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info176523.htm

That now makes 4 GSPs from 1991 with DSO #21-0259! :)

ChrisL posted an update on Dan's 86 FHP, as seen here:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...ead.php?t=4345

Chris just sent me a PDF file of the Marti Report for this car, which I used to create the following page for this SSP in our VIN Project:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info248589.htm

Note that this car is near the end of a batch of 60 cars, and that the DSO is #24-0243. There is a one-car gap between this batch and the next batch of 104 cars containing FHP Mustangs with the same DSO. So my question is - Did Ford insert 248593 (if built at all) in-between cars with the same DSO, or is this car actually part of a larger group of cars?

It might be the same type of issue that Mick and I were recently discussing. If there aren't any records, it might not have been included in the consecutive list to begin with. I'm betting that we are talking about one big group of consecutive cars with different order numbers in them.

FoxChassis 03-27-2013 06:15 PM

I just checked GF248593 with all possible body and engine codes. No records for any of them with either AutoCheck or Carfax. So either Ford didn't build a car with that CUN or it did and that CUN has no manufacture/ship-to record and no registration/inspection/accident/etc records, and therefore has no history to report.

28HopUp 03-28-2013 06:59 AM

Interesting! Thanks Mick :)

1989 Tx DPS SSP 03-28-2013 09:04 AM

Could it be the car was exported. Have you come across any cars, not necessarily SSP that show to have been built for export to other countries.

Tom

28HopUp 03-28-2013 09:15 AM

If I were to guess, I'd say that the VIN was never assigned by Ford (as they did with the last 6 VINs in the batch of 400 CHP Mustangs in 1982). Kevin Marti might be able to find out, but I'm not sure the time and effort would be worth it on this VIN.

It would be interesting to know, since we may have more problems with these types of records down the road.

28HopUp 03-28-2013 09:46 AM

That's true, Mike. We have made a few corrections in the list of VINs as we find them. That's the nice thing about how you set up the Project. The pages are easy to modify when something new surfaces, and the information on confirmed SSPs will not change over time because we limited the pages to only show the documentation on cars as opposed to being a registry of who owns what.

28HopUp 04-03-2013 08:13 AM

Mick has come through with some more great finds:

1990 GSA (DSO #83-0114)
1990 New York State Police (never in service)
1991 Mississippi Highway Patrol

I am most excited about that last one, since it is the first Mississippi SSP added to our project. Great detective work, Mick!

Also, we started to identify VINs known to be a Zimmer (see attached photo). We are not creating VIN pages for them; just making notations on the list of VINs where we know these numbers are not SSP Mustangs.

Thank you Mick for all the work you are doing to help with this project. Years from now people will be very thankful you took the initiative to do this work !!!

Bill I noticed you only have one 1988 Missouri SSP documented in the vin file. Did I send you the documentation from Missouri HP reference confirmation of the other 16 SSP cars they purchased in 1988? If not let remind me when you are here and I can provide you copies of it all. It will confirm all of the cars Missouri purchased that year. I also have a crash report that will confirm a P# and License plate number for another car if it ever surfaces.

FoxChassis 04-03-2013 09:38 AM

We could use more help if anybody wants to pitch in. :)

Checking for Zimmers is relatively easy to do, it's just a little time consuming. I can show you how. ID'ing them will help eliminate batches in the VIN Project as being possible SSPs, which in turn cuts down on the amount of work we need to do to ID SSPs, and the cost of running vehicle history reports and/or Marti reports.

I have only been keeping track of Zimmer VINs due to the database I started a few years ago for four-eyed Capri and Mustangs. That database led to me approaching Mike about what we know today as the SSP VIN Project. :D

28HopUp 04-03-2013 11:01 AM

Jim, please make copies of the MO information and I will pick them up from you when we meet for our trip to the MCA Show in a few weeks. :D

Mick, your efforts with getting this project started and ongoing are GREATLY appreciated!

This is very true. If anyone wants to do some leg-work by pulling AutoCheck Reports, we could take advantage of their 30-day unlimited offer. Mick & I could prepare a list of VINs in Excel for somebody willing to establish an unlimited AC account (for 30-days). There are 100s of VINs on which we would like to get AC reports. Once a page is pulled up on your browser, there is a way to right-click (at least using FireFox) to save the HTML page in a few keystrokes. Each page could be saved in a folder, and then emailed to me for adding to the Project. We would need to compile the list before somebody opened up the account, which costs $44.99 (which is the same cost for running 3 Marti Reports). The only reason we have held off spending the money is due to the time involved to assemble the list and save the pages. We will finalize the list if somebody wants to run and save them. Please let me know...

Bobby found some pictures online of a 1990 GSP that shows signs of having LoJack antennae on the roof:

Thanks again, Bobby! :)

Thanks Mike! I have some stuff going on this weekend, but I will follow up with you next week. :)

28HopUp 04-30-2013 10:34 AM

It's been a few weeks since we have added any SSPs to the project. I added a couple today, and included new pictures for some that were already in our project. The most notable new addition came from pictures taken at the MCA Show in Beaumont of a 1990 TxDPS build sheet that TomM. brought to one of our after-show get-togethers in the hotel lobby:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info149423.htm

Thanks Tom!!! :D

EXNODRAMANOTCH 04-30-2013 12:25 PM

Next week I'll have a Marti Report and door/buck tag photos for a 1993 NHP to submit. It is one VIN before the unconfirmed VIN already on the list and coupled with a NHP memo showing 8 1993 NHP SSPs as of 10/93, confirmation that the NHP had a total of 8 consecutive VIN SSPs in 1993 should be achieved.

EXNODRAMANOTCH 04-30-2013 12:38 PM

Assuming production of SSPs was over by 10/93, then Nevada only had a total of 8 1993 SSPs. This is the same number of consecutive VINs as in the VIN project. The red one below is the SSP I will be submitting info on next week. The last 3 digits of the Trooper ID# were the license plate #.

These are all the cars for the entire state in October 1993. Regions are: 1 Vegas, 2 Reno/Carson, 3 Elko. ID#'s are the Trooper ID# assigned to the car which would be the same as the license plate #.

They are listed by unit number, year, make, model, ID#, and region.

Did you buy a Nevada SSP? I remember one for sale not too long ago. The info you posted is great, and may be valuable as new cars turn up. If possible, can you scan the original documents and include them with the 93 information you will be getting?

FoxChassis 04-30-2013 01:25 PM

Anyone every heard of NHP having SSP Mustangs from the 1985 model year?

NoDrama43 04-30-2013 01:33 PM

Nevada had SSP cars in 85. There is a member here who owns one.

28HopUp 04-30-2013 01:42 PM

Rich, aka CHP8336, owns one of the three Nevada SSPs from 1985. One of the cars was totaled when it went into service, and Rich lost track of the 3rd one (but I believe was able to buy its original wheels).

Yes, I did buy a 93 NHP out of CA. When it gets here I'll photograph all the documentation and forward it to you. I'm even getting both of the license plates that it wore during service.

Congrats on the new SSP! :) I think that one belonged to Tony/WopMotor, right?

Sorry, I meant 1986 model year NHPs.

This one was thought to perhaps be a 1986 Nevada SSP...

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...ht=1986+Nevada

...but it was never confirmed. Here's a picture from the other site that is identified as an 85/86, but the caps are certainly 86 (note the color of the sail panel too) -

Compare that to the attached picture found in this thread of an 85 (which also shows 86 caps at times, but the sail panel is silver) -

Reason I ask is GF206550-GF206559 all went to NV originally.
