Two 1988 New York Mustangs

4 Attachment(s)
I have two 1988 New York State Police PROJECT Mustangs with clear titles. The first car has 60k miles and was taken out of service with a blown engine. The buyer pulled the engine and transmission and the car has sat since. The body will need some attention but isn't that bad. The interior is decent and will need a headliner. The floor pan is nice and the left rail at the shock tower is just starting to rust.

Car number two runs good, and has a good interior. Although it is a complete car the body is JUNK. Even has owners manual packet with warranty card !

Buck tags are in place on both cars.

There were only 40 SSP's used by NY in 1988.

These cars are to be sold as a pair $3800.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen one of these, much less two. Good luck with the sale!

Jeff two cars to make one and I think that is a very fair price for the two . GLWS

Are you gathering up funds to get that Idaho car finished? :)

nighthawk756 05-28-2013 10:19 AM

Why do all the rare cars have to be so far away from me?? Lol :D

USPS SSP 05-28-2013 03:17 PM

I sold the ISP to another member here. I just never have time for projects. Currently I have 2 of the 6 USPS cars (614 & 617) both silver, a 90 NY car that never went into service, a civi 85 Jalpeno red 5 speed coupe, and a Carolina Ford dealer 25th Anniversary 5 speed coupe.

Somebody needs to save these NY cars before they rot into the ground. One already needs to be rebodied.

PM sent for additional pics.

I have USPS 623.

These are project cars needing restoration. Again, buck tags are in place and titles are in hand. I may even have an original set of decals with installation instructions. This is the car that would be easier to rebody.

I ebayed this car 5 or 6 years ago and it bid as is for over $8k !!! It was restored 5 months later as pictured and now resides in Long Island NY.

I lived in central NY until the mid '90s so I do remember seeing these SSPs on patrol on the local interstate and state highways.

Any chance of taking pics of the door tags, buck tags, warranty cards, etc. for the VIN Project here?

OldSSPguy 05-29-2013 12:23 PM

Damn damn damn this makes me miss my old NYS SSP even more then I do already, what an a$$ I was to sell that car lol!

chp1982 05-29-2013 12:24 PM

Pics for the VIN project. I can't find my pic of 258842's TAGs, but they are there. Donor, 258858, has been stripped and is going to a fellow member. Interior of both cars was in much better shape than I expected to see.

Just wanna say thanks to Jonathon and his Dad (Very nice people). It was a real pleasure meeting them.

Well got it stored away for now...top half of car, (cowl panel up/ no rust at all even on bottom side of cowl panel) is in really good shape (especially considering how bad the bottom is!) Should be able to make this work once I find a suitable donor chassis for this "Donor" car lol. Plans are to set upper section(roof; cowl balloon; outer rails and rear package tray) onto a solid donor coupe (same principle as used when shops turn coupes into fastbacks, only by including cowl balloon and outer rails I'll be keeping the parts of the car that are serialized and not just re-body ing the car).

Glad you finally got it Bobby! Hate I wasn't able to meet you. Maybe next time.

Did you get a chance to see the Powell's collection?

Ok guys,
Any NYSP knowledge out there? Is this a unit # or just a property #? Just curious :-)
