Congrats on the purchase! If you get the DSO off of the door tag, that will more or less confirm it being an SSP very easily. I actually called on that car, but being that he said it had a red interior I figured it wasn't an SSP. Looks like I'm probably wrong, thanks for saving it!

86 coupe
yeah the guy is out of town so all I could get was the vin,but the car has lots of goodies and couldn't beat the price I got,it made up for the shipping cost and he's says theres no rust and was never hit, should be here by weekend then I'll know more

Congrats on the new purchase! Please post up some pictures once you have brought it home. :)

253272 is within a batch of just two VINs, along with 253273.
And to go along with six-digit DSO not always being SSP, I have 11 Mustangs and 20 Capris in the 79-86 database I've been building, that have six-digit DSOs. |
To take it a step further, some agencies even special-ordered regular-production Mustangs and put them into service. Therefore, you could have the service records from the agency and a 6-digit DSO, yet still not be an SSP.
I have pics of several non-package DSO 83 cars, and one was on eBay not too long ago as well. |
1986 5.0 5 speed coupe
I only got to see 2 pic's on this car and the fact that it had a electric fan,new clutch short shifter, long tubes, borlas and that was it cause the guy was out of state when I bought the car and his wife was not much help, the guy didn't even know what the speedo went up to cause he did not drive the car much,so I don't really know what I'm getting but the price was right so I went for it,the car should be here in chicago sat or sunday then I will know more, but the carfax shows that it had one owner from 86 to 98 and only had 68,000 miles and thats why I thought it mite be an SSP but I don't think it is but it could be a low opition coupe cause I do know it has crank windows and manual locks,I hope it don't have ac then I would really be happy, and since this car has spent all of its life in cali and the last 6 in az I'm hoping it will be rust free as the owner said it is,and if I don't like it I will put all i have together and spend about 4,000 and get a nice SSP I know of already and I mite get it anyway when I get my income tax money :)

not an SSP :(
found out today car has an 85 speedo in it,all I can hope for now is that it is a no option coupe,,and the car is stuck in 20 hours from me yet cause of transmission problems maybe it will be here sunday,,car should have been here by the 25th
|
Sorry to hear about that. Just curious why you sold the 88 MSHP SSP? Did it need a lot of work?

no it was not that bad I just hate rust and it had its share, needed a trans and just found out today it had the wrong throw out bering and a 4cly trans that was junk, and I hate conversion 5 speeds,,unless the guy knows how to do it and these guys didnot,,but all and all it was ok for 1500 and the 86 cost me 1500,,I got a pic today but you can't see it lol,,but this car is a original 5 speed car as far as I know
|
I wasn't sure on this or not, but did you get the car yet? If so, were you able to get the title issue resolved and in your name?
|
I just got the car today,I'm very happy too
ok the car is rust free, and it does have air but it's after market AC kit so the car only has a one option and that is a console, the doors deck lid are all clean and rust free and the lower core support don't even have one dent in it,the trans shifts perfect and has a new clutch, short throw shifter, long tube headers,2 new magnaflow mufflers ,duel electric black magic fans, the car is straight and in has been painted with 5 cans of gray primer,it needs driver side door pins and needs some new red front and back seats cause there are 86 gt grey with red pin strip seats in front and the lower back seat is faded badly,I even have black seat covers and a car cover and front bra lol,,so for 1,500 and 750.00 shipping I have an original one option 1986 5.0 5 speed rust free notch and I'm happy :) pic's will come soon the seats will be for sale and the after market AC complete
I'm going thursday to do the change and I'm thinking it is an error cause the speedo does say 23,000 so the car has 123,000 miles |
