Pretty neat car, definitely a diamond in the rough but this one would be worth saving. Is it unique in that it is an automatic? |
Cool car, pretty rough though. Funny how the seats are the nicest part of the car.

I wonder if they were both auto's, and a separate order was 5sp cars. This car is such a gem.

FYI - this was posted over on .org from user badbrad (who currently owns 2 86 RCMP's out of the original 8):

http://www.sspmustang.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10623 So, as Jim stated - that RCMP is quite rare, if anyone has the funds or ability to purchase/restore, it's definitely one to snap up. |
The car is a heap. AKA a POS.
I'm not saying the car doesn't deserve to be preserved, because every SSP does, irregardless of condition. But the price should be fair in relationship to the condition. I see a lot of rust lurking there. Look closely at the rocker panels and rear quarters. What about those rear side windows?? The car doesn't even run. Owner claims it's the fuel pump. There's no mention of buck tags. It's a $500 car. The owner should be lucky to get $1,200 just because it's a SSP. He definitely doesn't have to worry about someone buying it to hotrod. Especially as high as he is on the price. This is one of those cars where I think it only has value to someone specifically looking for a 1986 RCMP SSP. Your buying its history and identifying numbers/tags. I'd like to see someone here get it for a reasonable price that's actually going to restore it as a RCMP SSP. It would be interesting to see someone buy it and follow the build to see how much money ends up going it to it to put it back in to nice shape. |

If I had 3k laying around I would snap it up in a moment. Would I make money on the car no, but I would not sell it so it wouldn't matter.
just my .02. |
You should buy it. Sell one of your other bazillion cars and put it in the barn.
The price is way too high. Think about the FHP car you bought and then sold me. It's in waaay better shape than this one, still pretty rare, and sold for much less (and it's a 5 speed car). Plus, I have a soft spot for the FHP cars, so it was worth that much more to me. Sounds like you have a soft spot for rare AOD cars from other countries. :) |
I know I have the decals for that one. I just don't like Canada that much. ;)
|
Personally I would love to have this RCMP SSP, but too much project for me and I would probably also acquire a divorce simultaneously  . Hoping it get's the return to in-service condition that it deserves.

Jim, that's probably a good thing. Similar to what Mike (MOstang) said, bringing home another project would probably end up with me calling the new car "home". :)
|
The owner wont budge at all, car is in one of the rust bucket capitals of Canada. Otherwise I would have this car in my garage already. Was willing to pay $1,500.
