1988 TX DPS

9 Attachment(s)
Selling my 1988 TX DPS project.
Unit M8-572-Very well documented. Original Black/White Auto with blue interior. 192K miles believed to have been a DPS lightbar car.

I have the TX title history including a copy of the DPS title that lists the selling dealer-original unit #,and dps plate #.
Dps painted the car white and sold the car in 5/91 with 68K miles to the Bosque County Sheriffs Office to be used as a marked vehicle. they Kept it until 1997.

Car has both buck tags-drivers door tag, drivers jam unit # sticker, and jam TX DPS property # sticker.

Car does run and drive but needs gone thru. it did have a new master cylinder and front brake hoses installed as well as a recent tune up.

Body is Very Solid and Rust Free but needs restored with a complete repaint/trim.
Appears to have all original body panels except pass door which looks to have been replaced while in service as it has unit # M7-539 written on the inside jam.

Interior needs gone over-needs carpet/headliner and seat covers.
Dash/console have lots of equipment holes. Included are a complete regatta blue dash and console with no holes and lots of spare blue interior extras like 2 pairs of door panels/armrests,steering wheel, sunvisors etc.

Also have some of the equipment included like radio head/mic/radio head brackets, lightbar controller etc.

Located in SW PA $3500
I have many more pics for sincere parties

Russ, I look at a car like yours and compare it to my CHP. Your car is in comparable condition to mine when I bought it, and I paid $3,986 for mine (OK, I paid $4K "as-is", which included $14 in quarters inside the car!). That was in 2008. Your car at only $3K is a bargain IMO. My inclination would be to say you shouldn't need any luck to sell your car at that price, but I've seen other cars linger in the classifieds longer than I would have thought. So I'll go ahead and say it...

Good Luck with your sale!

:D

Good Luck with the sale Russ. You would think at that price, it would have sold by now, but that's what everyone was saying about mine. (fingers crossed)

I agree. Its a great solid very documented car. If it sells it sells if it doesnt I will put it in storage until I get the ambition to finish it. I am burnt out and taking major grief from the wife about all these mustangs I own and shuffle around from our garage to storage etc.
I have 6 and ideally would like to have 4. Im starting to get as fed up as she is!

Quick question, I saw that many of the TX DPS cars had stick, this is an automatic? Just curious as I assumed that they all were stick and I'm still new to this stuff.

Thanks.

stubes 06-03-2011 07:25 AM

Yep it's an automatic. Dps did use aod cars too.

GSPI 06-03-2011 07:52 AM

Just so I can get an education, how can you determine that this is a lightbar equipped DPS car too? Is it the LP6000 that was used for this car?

stubes 06-03-2011 08:04 AM

Yes they used the lp6000.
I tend to think it was a lightbar car due to it having the lightbar wiring hole drilled in the pass door jam upper corner and I do not see any holes drilled up front on what apears to be the original b cover for the grille brackets.

GSPI 06-03-2011 08:12 AM

Thank you, I really appreciate the answers so you know! So this car would have the LP6000 bar and nothing else or does it have the rear deck lights too? What other equipment would it need to be completed (paint obviously but other items).

It is 1 0f 100 that they bought in 88.

I believe the lightbar cars just used lightbars and that's it. I have the dps radio brackets, radio head/mic, lightbar controller etc.

Carpet, headliner, package tray etc. I have lots of spare interior pieces dash housing/console with no holes, door panels etc along with spare exterior stuff as well. I bought nice regatta blue seats and I am waiting for them to arrive.

I guess it all depends on what kind of car you want to have once it's done.
I tend to go overboard and i am very picky when I redo a car. Some guys put a paint job on and call the car restored.... I do not.

I know what you mean. I have had to do a frame up on a 1978 LTD already and that was at least a 4+ year proposition. Interesting car and it's fairly close to me if you are in PA.

stubes 06-03-2011 08:39 AM

Yep you are about 2 hrs away from me.
IMO it's a great car for someone wanting a first ssp----no rust and nice documentation.

GSPI 06-03-2011 09:06 PM

I may have to stop when I'm in the neighborhood.
