It's baaaack...

That didn't take long. While not claiming it's a GSP car, the new seller makes all sorts of new, unsubstantiated claims in the ad:

Here is the original thread on the car, too.

I wondered about that car. It seemed nice enough with a repaint but it's described as a "well documented" car. Not so much then?

It's documented...just as a Clayton County car. The previous owner claimed it was a GSP car (not), and this one talks about production numbers (not) and its' "undercover" status. Unmarked, or slicktop, does not mean "undercover".

So it's an SSP but possibly for the Clayton County Police?

I wonder as Clayton County does have a group called H.E.A.T. which is an initiative by the state amongst various departments for an aggressive driving traffic enforcement unit. These cars are all low profile variously colored dark cars. Might be possible to check with them about this:

It was never confirmed....but probably a Clayton County car of some sort. For all we know, it was an admin car. No one other than Mike P. ever bothered to try and verify it, as noted in the earlier thread.

I also posted a link in that previous thread about unmarked cars and traffic enforcement in GA. It would have had to have been marked.

It's a white (originally), AOD SSP. I like the black interior, but can't say I like the AOD.

Too bad its an auto, has anyone ever done a 5sp conversion on one of these?

MOstang 04-29-2011 11:28 AM

Is this Seller the one who signed up here with the car shortly after it was for sale the last time? If I remember correctly they had just purchased the car from the one who claimed it had served with the GSP.

28HopUp 04-29-2011 11:48 AM

Mike, I think the guy listing it on the Corral is the new owner. His ad states the location as Waco, Texas. The other guy had state-issued Georgia plates on the car, and his Craigslist ad was from Atlanta.

MOstang 04-29-2011 11:55 AM

Yes thanks...same one I'm thinking of. Here's the post.

Maybe he will chime in again here on it.

Please don't do that. Find a 5-spd car if that's what you want. They're plentiful. Some of us, while rare, DO like AOD cars!! And finding one that hasn't been molested is a difficult task to say the least.

Ok: Its just that the blue with black interior is my favorite, what is the best quality of the AOD by the way?

It's easier on the left knee. :) Don't laugh fellas - that can become an issue as we get older.

I feel your pain....I've had surgery twice on my left knee.

Still 5spd for me, though!

Much easier on the entire left leg when stuck in Memphis traffic. I broke my middle left toe last December and talk about pain driving the Bullitt. It was excrutiating!!

I was always an AOD person just out of preference. I have two manual trans cars - the Bullitt and the '82 CHP - and I like them. But not for daily driving and especially not for getting stuck in traffic jams. Unfortunately, out of necessity, the Bullitt IS my daily driver. I would unload it for the right AOD Coupe.

I'm not hating on you or others, it's just that finding an AOD Fox Body Mustang, especially a coupe, that has not been bastardized and molested is so hard around here that's it's a major sore spot with me. If I do find one, it's usually way out of my price range. But more likely than not, it doesn't exist at the time I'm looking - which is not right now.

Just my .02 cents. Btw, I love your new avatar, Charlie.

To the topic at hand, this is a great looking coupe. I wish someone could pin down the true history on it. I almost bought a white w/black non-SSP 5.0 coupe several years ago out of SoCal, but they had added an aftermarket sunroof and that killed it for me. I went so far as talking to the seller and having a good friend go look it over for me. Seeing the interior in that car leaves me with regrets for not getting it.

The story is correct. I have a magazine article on them. :) One was red originally IIRC and I don't remember the other one. NYPD Highway Patrol is who they were assigned to.

KeithN 05-11-2011 06:47 PM

I assume it was originally white? Looks nice but will have to be returned to it's original color. Sheesh I'm getting old as this wouldn't have bothered me back in the day.
