89 TX DPS
I wonder who this one belongs too...I always enjoy the dialogue from people wanting to modify an SSP so had to include that below as well in green font below.

Most of the brackets/headers/wheels and some other stuff are all powdercoated. All of the suspention and interior was out of a 30k mile ssp car. The doors close like they should. No rust! But who knows....Maybe one day I might get an itch. After all, it is only a 5.0" End Quote |
That's a familiar car. I remember the sticker in the lower left corner of the back window -
http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/P1000887.jpg Is this the one that Aaron restored and was sold to Stubes? That was a 1989 Texas DPS that was documented as Unit # M9-161. Same car? |
Yep, I think that was Stubes' car.
|
The info about the interior (30k mile car) matches. It would suck to see a car previously (surely) saved only to be modded out.
|
yes its my old car. i put a lot of work into that thing.
i wish i had the space to keep all of them. that was a one of a kind mint regatta blue interior and had all the correct dps equipment. |
what are matching serial numbered radio and lights???

yes mike among some of the few reasons.

With the new owner being from nearby Baltimore, perhaps I'll get to see this SSP. :D

At least they are safe, though. |
I hope this guy doesn't do anything stupid with this car... Hate to see it get crushed (accident or police to make a statement) or go from a clean restoration to a race car.
It's his car but a darn shame if something happens to that one. |
another one bites the dust....
|
I should have bought this car.
|
I'm hoping to make contact with the new owner on the SVT forum. It sounds like he intends to keep it stock, although I hope he avoids trouble with the car (he likes to play with the lights and siren).

Russ, That's why I asked about the space issue (plus I wanted to see pics of the Saleen). |

Yeah this is the one I took from a rolling shell and restored it, then Russ really finished it off with a better respray, interior out of a donor car, etc. This was my first restoration and the car that really got me into the hobby, my knowledge and skills have increased vastly since I did this car. Russ took it to the level I wanted it to be at, the level my AL car and soon to be KHP car are at. It makes me sick that I sold it; I really wish I hadn’t and once I saw Russ’s work at the Ashville show I really wanted it back but couldn’t. Another thing this car taught me was I won’t sell another one of my SSP’s.
Unfortunately I can’t go back in time, and I have no say what happens to the car as it’s not mine. I sold it to a fellow enthusiast who enjoyed and respected the car. I think everyone knows that things come up and sometimes we need to sell our toys even if we hate to. I would hate to see all the work we have done be undone but like I stated before it’s not ours anymore to make that call. My only other regret is not pulling the switch box that was a gift from Joe and replacing it with a blank one. I am sure Russ feels the same way about this car, hopefully one day it will end up back in this group or my garage. Here is the link to the work I did on it: http://s223.photobucket.com/albums/d...0SSP%20M9-161/ |
I am on there just a slightly different user name and already commented. The guy PM'ed me looking for pics of the resto I told him to contact you Aaron. I am guessing as he left his Saleen all stock he will probably not mess with this.
The Saleen...bunch of pics in this guys thread I remember it being for sale on there. I browse the classifieds a lot on SVTP http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...een-341-a.html http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/v.../saleen001.jpg http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/v.../saleen010.jpg |
I like the color of the Saleen! Hopefully you are right and he may just be popping off trying to say what he thinks the audience on that forum wants to hear. Some people are followers and some are leaders...hopefully he is the latter and not the former.

Possibly taking it back down to hot rod weekend in OC. I have been trying to catch up with Lisa with the Georgia car. I saw her down OC this past year as I just put the car away for the afternoon due to crazy traffic. I talked to her for a good 30 minutes about her car and mine. She is a very nice lady with an outstanding car! |

Car looks really nice. What kind of light is on the dash? Doesn't look like it belongs on there. |

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...ead.php?t=2769 As for the light, take a look at it the next time you get a chance. You should be able to get a manufacturer from it by doing so. |

The car still looks great, glad to see it has not changed!
As far as the light goes it's the same one Joe had in his 87 TX DPS car. The manufacturer was the same but it had been updated slightly and the color of the base changed. It's also missing the cover that blocked half the lens so the driver was not blinded by it. w/cover after I restored the car. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/100_5470.jpg |
The period correct light with the chrome base and white cover. (I think this is actually Joe's car?)

The correct light (from the in-service pics) is a Whelen Responder. I'm not sure what kind of light is in the original picture, but it definitely isn't made by Whelen.
|
Is that bottom pic above an in-service pic the TX DPS office took at home or is it an enthusiast's picture of their SSP?
