Done !!

going to sunny south Georgia on saturday to bring home a 91 GSP. It took some quick negotiation and teamwork ;) to get it bought but it turned out perfectly. I had been after this one for about three weeks and then the car got listed and the seller got swamped with offers. Props to Vincent for being a stand up guy and also to Justin for the mad dash to get the car. Steak dinner on me !

This one has a quite a lengthy history with the patrol and then was turned over to a state university in Georgia. It wasn't sold to the public by the State of Georgia until 2005. It has been stored since then and alledgedly has 121k miles. Car has some new engine parts on it, all original body panels, no crashes history, has the door vin label, both buc tags, cert speedo and a faded interior. I have a bunch of the e-stuff for the car already so I am ahead of the game on this one. There is some original GSP paperwork with the car and I will be contacting the university to see what records they may have. The price was excellent given the condition and originality of the car.

Lastly I am done buying cars. I can hear a few of you laughing already but seriously...( and EVIL feel free to sticky this post)......This is the exact car I wanted to complete my collection. A good solid unmolested GSP car to bring back to life. Next month I will go pick up the 83 car and close this chapter on my project.

Here is a picture for now. I will post more Sunday after getting back to the house.

Jim, congrats on completing the collection. I know a while back you were going to break it up and sell some off, I'm glad you changed your mind!

yeh the GT500 sidetracked me a little. It didn't take me long to realize I wanted to get back on track. Now I will put them away and cover them up and work on one at a time. It will be a long time before they are all done. I know there are those that don't think I will ever get them all done but we shall see.

Miles showing actual 121k
DSO 21-0259

here is another pic. As you can see they just sprayed over the decals. Still has auction writing on the windshield. says "Law Enf only"

That's interesting, a college using a marked Mustang police car. Neat history there.

The collections done huh? Hmmm I think I recently heard about a former marked Wyoming Hwy Patrol SSP sitting in a barn in Nebraska. Been sitting there since the owner bought it from the state.

I'm sorry, I couldn't help but mess with you a little! I really don't know of any Wyoming SSP....I just picked that state since I've never heard of anyone having one! LOL

NoDrama43 03-29-2010 09:01 PM

from the car fax report. I guess this one was the "last" one sold by the State of Georgia. to date anyway. You never know when they are going to pop up still in service somewhere.

Eric it's funny you say that because I know someone who has actually located 3 Wyoming cars. It could be an interesting summer.

Jim great find, congrats on the last piece of the puzzle!

Congrats and thankfully the madness is over. :happyspin: (at least for a little while).

Seriously....glad you found the GSP. I know the problems with the other one kept you from really enjoying it (especially the color issue), so I'm glad you have one to start from scratch with.

FHP813 03-29-2010 09:53 PM

Congrats, Jim. GSP is one of my favorites.

Andy 03-29-2010 10:11 PM

Jerry I am travelling to the Warner Robins area. Leaving at 5am so I should be there around 230pm.

Justin you are most welcome. You really came through on this one for me.

Eric the only info I have is they have been located, three different owners and I have no information on the condition of the cars.

1jerryl 03-30-2010 09:06 AM

If you're interested in grabbing some grub, Ill take the 91 on a little road trip....

Good job on the acquistion...let the restoration(s) begin!

28HopUp 03-30-2010 03:20 PM

Congrats on the GSP and finally rounding out your collection. The next phase of ownership (i.e restoration) should be very satisfying and rewarding. I have no doubt you'll get them all done (some time next year, right? :) ). But once that happens, then what?

NoDrama43 03-30-2010 04:16 PM

First on the list will be a big garage sale of all the extra parts that I will not need and then I will sit around in the barn and watch Gregg the "curator" maintain them. ;)

ssp91ssp 03-30-2010 08:19 PM

Jim, Congrats on the new car / collection completed !!! plz keep us updated .

thanks Hec. I am not sure if it is "history" but it has been a goal of mine for a few years.

There is only one car I "might" part with if another specific agency car is located. I am keeping both 84 cars so it isn't one of them. As soon as I get the 83 in my barn I am going to start focusing on the barn, getting it finished. I am working on two cars right now but my intentions are to try and complete a car every 12 months. We will see........

stadair 03-30-2010 09:29 PM
