Barrett Jackson

I'm waiting to see the next person loose their minds with an old police car purchase like the Barrett Jackson auction late last year (the Barney Fife replica that sold for $100K+ if memory serves me correct). Apparently 3 old police cars have crossed the block today on the heels of that big payday. I saw a 57 Mercury Monterrey (CHP) cross at $14K...no drama on that one. Amazing sometimes what people will do!

Barrett Jackass = Supreme Grand Wizard of the GGG MAGM cult.

But the biggest idiots are the enablers. The knuckleheads with so much money it doesn't matter. They should pay their condo mortgages then send the extra cash to Haiti instead.

REDCROSS.org. Make a difference. and remember.......... true charity is anonymous. :)

Joe did I light the fuse a little quick on that one? ;)

Texaspony87 01-23-2010 06:12 PM

NO. I needed the laugh. Thank you bro.

NoDrama43 01-23-2010 07:08 PM

10-4  Glad I could help !!

On the other hand, you can get a deal or two at Barret Jackson. I would have loved to have bought that original '65 coupe w/17,000 miles for $33,000! It probably still had the new car smell!

I guess you just have to be at the right place at the right time ...
I do have to agree , most of that Barrett jackson stuff is untouchable !
super crazy prices !

Haiti relief is over 78 million now including the ongoing telethon. It's always good to help others out and the red cross does a pretty good job with the $$$ they receive.

Barrett Jackson

I was at the auction for 3 days. A few deals but mostly pure price insanity. The experience was fantastic, but restraint and common sense were not very common there when people were bidding :)

ssp91ssp 01-25-2010 09:11 PM

Barry, any ssp stuff? while you were there .

Barry - I'd like to make it out there myself one of these years just to experience the event, not to buy any cars. A co-worker went on vacation in Vegas when BJ hosted their first event there a couple years ago. He said it was quite the spectacle.

Three Years Later

It's that time again. Have friends coming in for the Auction
and we Will see people that i usually only see at the Auction
Been to every one since 1975 and it never gets old. Always good
It's gotten different in recent years. I now seen Allot a cars
being sent out of the US never to be seen again. I guess if we
visited the places they were sent to...we would get a chance to
see um again. But wait! If we are lucky enough these off shore types
will start buying up more of our Land here in America.....And
Maybe they will bring back some of our cars. After all they are
gonna have get around. They will need something to drive.
They may even let us wash and wax them once in awhile?

I understand helping out, BUT will all of those MILLIONS the Red Cross is getting going to ACTUALLY go TO the victims this time ? I have little faith it will.
Or in the pockets of the CEO's as S.O.P. ???

Not turning my back on helping people in need, but I'd much rather give to many others, rather than the red cross.

They proved to be dishonest and care more about how much $$$ is going in THEIR pockets rather than actually helping the ones in need.

They proved that to all of us in 9-11. Never forget.

Hey Andy! Hope you have a great time at BJ this year. Take pics of anything of interest. :)

NoDrama43 01-10-2013 10:55 AM

Yes that was a few years back
My friend Lloyd was the person in the Picture
This year seemed off a bit? to me the prices seemed down
And i have never seen so many Shelby's ever at this one auction.
Many 68's and 9's
I guess that everyone now is gonna sell their Shelby for more
because the man is dead. Not sure that it worked out this way?
Still waiting to see an SSP Mustang here but so far No.
A few fox body mustangs but nothing to write home about.
not many exotic or sport cars as in years past.
it seems more like a carnival with cars now.
this was one of my favorites this year.

This reminds me of the old Volvo Bertone's. Kind of cool, I do have to say. I'm waiting to see somebody do a Choptop Fox Coupe!
