1986 CHP #3756

Sneak peek at 1986 CHP #3756 (Plate #413756) just unearthed this past weekend where it had rested in Central California unmoved since 1990. Still wearing what's left of the original CHP repaint and has just 93,000 miles on the clock! At least three forum members were involved in the discovery and recovery effort and they can chime in with further details.

I'm looking forward to hear more about this one. :)

ChrisL 02-10-2016 12:58 AM

Great save! Does it have a roll bar in it?

NoDrama43 02-11-2016 01:34 PM

Looks a little "Nevada-ish" to me.... :)

mac88chp 02-11-2016 02:02 PM

Already been added to the VIN Registry:

Rhino 02-14-2016 06:12 PM

Um...that roll bar sure does look a lot like the same ones put into EVOC cars. Did our friends happen to unearth the missing 4 eye EVOC car from years past? If so...VERY exciting! (Well, it's exciting regardless.) :)

Kudos on the save!

sspanthony 02-14-2016 06:54 PM

Very Cool !!!!

CHP8336 02-14-2016 09:21 PM

This car is definitely a keeper. Ken found it and we both together went and retrieved it. I don't really need another CHP car this time but I'm in this hobby for a long haul and she will definitely look nice next to 8336 and the 1985 Nevada car.

I think my neighbors think I am crazy but we couldn't turn down this rare find.

For now she's just going to sit under the tarp until the Nevada car is finished.

Ken and I are going to attack the Nevada car here shortly and get her done for Ripon.

28HopUp 02-15-2016 11:58 AM

Rich, congrats on the save. 1986 is my favorite year for the CHP cars in terms of aesthetics - the steel wheels, sail panels, and paint break. Very sharp-looking cars! :)

FlyinTiger 02-15-2016 02:43 PM

Great find! I love the roll bar. It will be interesting to see what is uncovered about this one's history.

NoDrama43 02-15-2016 05:34 PM

nice save Rich !

I believe Rich was told by the seller that he installed the roll bar during his efforts to turn the Mustang into a "race car."

Interesting. I was about to piss my pants with excitement if this was the EVOC car from 86. Which would be an AMAZING find. Still - a great car with tons of potential.

Rich and Ken are going to have some fun with this one. ;)

Wish I could take all the credit but the rest of the cast were a big help in making this save happen. John posted this car for sale back on 10-14-15, Brad got the info on it and started the conversation with the owner. Brad passed it onto us and after several weeks, It finally happened. Great car, can't wait to see it done!

If it was an EVOC car it would need to live in a mid-west garagemahall next to a certain SMPV car. It would only be right....

John10608 02-19-2016 11:20 AM

Maybe I just woke up, or it's the club that just hit me over the head....

LOL but I just realized that this is the mustang as I was leaving Ripon, a guy stopped me and told me he wanted to sell it.

Glad you guys bought it ! It sounded like a good car.
I can't wait to see it.
Keep us posted and the pictures coming !!!!

If you need door decals, better hurry, I only have 3 sets left.

It only took me 3 reads on this post to figure it out

LOLOLOL too funny

CHP8336 06-05-2016 12:38 PM

CHP unit # 3756 for sale. This is a all original car with no engine. The car is never been in an accident as far as I can see everything is straight. All the running gear is still in the car except for the engine. The interior is fair.

I'm not interested in selling the car to anybody outside of the hobby. I won't put it on eBay or Craigslist. No rush to sell whatsoever.

I would like to see this get restored as a in service restoration if possible. As we all know these cars in original condition are next to impossible to find even here in California.

Any members here that would like to make me an offer please send me a private message. I won't give it away but I will be fair.

I will use the funds from this car too restore the 1985 Nevada car.

Thanks ...... Rich

dcompson 06-05-2016 04:22 PM

Good luck with the sale. By the way, I clicked on your link to pictures and it said your account has been suspended.

CHP8336 06-05-2016 04:54 PM

Ok I will call Fotki.
Thanks....Rich

Pm sent

CHP8336 06-12-2016 06:59 PM

Well guys .....I have a couple of parties interested in this car.

Not to sound arrogant but I really don't care if I sell it or not.

This car deserves a very good home and I'm trying to figure out who would have the best home for it. Money is irrelevant.

You just can't find them original like this anymore.

Does anyone have a fully restored SSP that would like another orig one for their collection?

I'm trying to do something a little bit different this time to save this car.

Maybe if I write something up by a notary that I have first right of refusal that I would get first choice to buy it back if it were to be sold?

Am I off my rocker... LOL.....I have had my CHP Mustang #8336 for 29 years now. I have been irritated on numerous occasions where people buy and sell these cars like they're a piece of trash?

Rich

stangman86uhp 06-12-2016 10:23 PM

I understand where your coming rich!!! I appreciate your concerns with the car! A notary would be awesome and would make sense to the purchaser. Anyway. I am interested if u change your mind.

Count me in please

CHP8336 08-16-2016 07:17 PM

CHP #3756 is still for sale. I have been working long hours and had very little time to sell the car.

As I have said several times I won't sell the car to anyone who is going to flip the car for a profit.

The first person that wants to restore this car to original condition will own it for $2,000

My phone number is 707-975-8447
Thanks...Rich

CHP8336 08-18-2016 01:03 AM

No monies have exchanged yet but it looks like the car at this point will be in Southern California.

nighthawk756 08-18-2016 04:22 PM

Good deal. Glad it's staying in Cali and hopefully going to someone that will give it the respect it deserves.

CHP8336 08-22-2016 11:09 PM

I gave two parties my phone number and people want to play the email game.

The car is still for sale.

The price is $2,000 firm.

No trades. Cashier's check or cash only.

If anybody is interested please send me a private message.

Thanks guys!

MOstang 08-23-2016 07:31 PM

Oh no, I always worry about the possibility of jinxing my past sales with an early announcement. Hoping things work out for you.

CHP8336 08-27-2016 11:16 AM

Yes, $2000.00 is a fair price all orig car no rust or accidents.

I hope it goes to a good home?

ChrisBD 08-28-2016 10:53 AM

I imagine the engine is seized up tight. It would need a complete restoration. Is it a 5 speed? What is the title status and where is the car located?

Chris

CHP8336 08-28-2016 01:57 PM

The car is 100% complete except for the engine. I have most of the pieces for the engine but you're better off getting a complete running engine it would be easier.

Transmission still in the car exhaust in the car everything is there just the engine is missing.

No rust,no dents, no body work has ever been done all original.

Clear title, the car has not been registered for 25 years.

m81mclaren 09-13-2016 04:03 PM

ping to Rich's phone#

CHP8336 03-11-2017 11:46 PM

Sold !

I asked the gentleman that bought it to join the site and he said he would .....so be prepared folks looks like another restoration is going to be underway. I'll wait for the new owner to announce his plans.

92NM-SSP 03-12-2017 05:38 AM
