ok so what i beleave i have is a 1986 okc patrol car but im not certin on that at first i thought it was a ohp car but after sanding some paint off the doors you can see the word police and with the paint sceme it has or had it looks like a okcpd cars do now im just trying to find out as much info as i can on this if you have any info for me please let me know

thanks dan.

My guess is a former Oklahoma Hwy Patrol that was purchased used by a police department.

I don't think I've seen those Ok cars show up much

1989 Tx DPS SSP 03-29-2012 12:37 AM

I think OHP only bought SSP's in 85. I have only seen one and it is lurking still somewhere in Ohio.

Tom

ive never seen one until this one and i know a okcpd officer and he tryed to look it up and found nothing on it

Mustang Kid 03-29-2012 01:37 AM

Welcome to the forum!!:D

What are your plans for this SSP? The city may have gotten a couple cars off the state bid(order) for mustangs that year. Or a couple cars went to the city after the highway patrol was done with them.
I know nothing about the Ok. cars haha.

Good luck:thumbsup:

Superdan 03-29-2012 02:07 AM

it all depends on how much info i can find so ive found the owners name in 2004 but it lead to a address that is for sale and the car hasent been taged in 10 years so idk im thinking all black for now but we"ll see its a rare bird to mess with it but all that dont matter without solid proof

Well, it's definitely a ssp from the buck tag. The tag says black paint with white doors and roof, and it looks like it says Oklahoma. It may ended its career as a police car, but it most likely started it with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Have you run a CarFax report on it? Many of these cars, like my 93 Missouri State Highway Patrol SSP, ended their in-service career with a local police agency after the state surplused them. The CarFax might offer a clue or two. You should also order a Marti Report too. The bucktag and the special paint would seem to suggest is started with the OHP. Perhaps it started with the OHP and was later used by a local policy agency. Would sure be a cool and rare SSP.

Welcome to the site, Dan.

The info about OKHP only ordering in '85 may be incorrect.

Does your car have an AOD? CAn you post a pic of the doortag, other buck tag, or last 6 of the VIN?

Here is a pic of an in-service unit from our website (the pic above is someone's resto).

Nice find

I think you have a rare car there bud. I would definately pursue a Marti report and and DMV info you can gather on past ownership. But the DSO tag says it all really. Hard to argue with it. LOL. I would definately get your VIN number on here for the VIN project. It will tell you watch batch your car came out of and how many cars were in that batch with yours. Good luck!

found the last owner (its good to have friends lol) turns out it was a b-day gift when he was 14 from his dad who is no longer here i guess he had it until his first speeding ticket then his dad took it away there was a report of an accident so im guessin theres more to it than just speeding

chism 03-29-2012 01:45 PM

marti report

here is a link to their website. http://www.martiauto.com/reports2.cfm Basically, a Marti report will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about your car specifically. You send them your VIN number and they work closely with ford to get all the documentation from their archives. They can even make you new tags if they are no longer present. Its pretty cool. I plan on getting one for my car, just to have.

I took the liberty of looking up your VIN in the vin project. It looks like your car was built in 1985. There were 34 cars (including yours) in the batch your car was made in. heres a link. http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/85VIN.html Pretty cool!

Superdan 03-29-2012 01:57 PM
