Ocala FL SSP?
Anyone familiar with this? i saw the 89 i'm getting has bucktag that's barely viewable that says "cala" so i believe it stands for "Ocala"...
|
MJ,
Really no way that your car, which was registered in Gainesville with 10 miles on it, would have been an Ocala PD car (or Marion County SO, either). You might try to get a copy of the original title to see who registered it. It almost looks like it wasn't in-service. |
i could do that once it's titled on my name. I found it has 4 strobes on front corner lens and tail lights... also i updated new pictures, kill switch and everything, you can look at it.. its on the end of first page and 2nd page. top of first page is old via camera phone, it was taken on nov 9th by digital camera, much better quality.
www.fotki.com/calimustang/1989-ssp/ it finally registered in 1998.. 05/09/1998 99,282 Florida Motor Vehicle Dept. Punta Gorda, FL Title #47697247 Odometer reading reported which means it was retired, look at the mileage, where was it from 1989-98? This car has a VERY strange history. Quote:

Great find. Where exactly did you find it because I thought I scoured all of North Florida for Coupes already...:)
It looks like a basket case in the engine compartment but definately looks salvagable. |
HA HA! it is restoration-able. I found it in Orlando, in a very bad bad area but that dude who has it, buys and sell foxes with some fix up's for very good deals... he's a old school dude who specializes in fox mustangs and collects a lot of fox parts to fix whatever he have in stock.
the motor in car will be ditched and i have a fresh rebuilt 5.0 motor to drop in, it was from a rear ended convertible so the motor is tight and good shape but needs some clean up to look good. you could see the pics of the good motor. |

I'm glad you brought this up, because it might help others as well. Here is a Carfax from an actual Gainesville PD car... |

Here is mine, from the '93 coupe I bought new and is sitting in my garage:

There are no other entries for my '93...so just because there are gaps, doesn't mean it was "retired". There isn't emissions testing in that area, and the only other way there'd be entries is if the car was sold.
Also, the GPD Carfax clearly shows registration as a LE vehicle. |
Mike,
you made good points there, as far as i recall on my old 91 Davie, FL SSP #142 didn't have carfax show it being registered as LE vehicle, kind of similiar to the one i have shown now... So carfax isn't 100% accurate.. Like this for example.. i once owned an 2008 Mustang GT and got hit by a flea sized brain deer in SC state and costing over 4.5K to repair and it shows on carfax as electricial work that's worth 4,500. That made me realize that carfax isn't always accurate..... so i swore to myself not ever buy a used car that's for daily driver car unless it is brand new but SSP/B4C/P71/9C1 are different because they never can be Daily Driver car unless i know where to look and watch out for or restore them then I'd not be worried at that point. Guess I'll have to contact DMV for its ownership history like you advised a while ago. |
Mike,
one more thing, do you know what a Gainesville PD car are equipped with? Did they come with kill switch on center console like FHP SSP did? That part bothered me the most. |
