Thanks for adding the personal touch to those photos, John. As chp1982 said, there are a lot of stories associated with these cars, and they were truly a special and unique era in the history of the CHP. I think adding some of the human side has value.

Compliments of former CHP officer and the owner of 0209, is a photo of the first 1982 Mustang issued to Sante Fe Springs. The Officers in the photo are: James, Boyland, Parra, and Sotelo.

Our 5th confirmed totaled unit along with 0202, 0205, 0391, and 0269. First hand accounts have provided some staggering estimates of how many of the '82's actually made it out of service.

Trying to get caught up. I was fortunate to have the executor of the late Officer John Rolfes' estate provide me with numerous photos of the crash of 0391 as well as an article. The pictures are on the small side.

That is amazing. With the fuel tank located under the trunk it is remarkable it wasn't ignited and that Mustang turned into a tiki torch.
