Big thanks to Rich for sending me the original taillights off of #8336:D
Today, I got my can of the correct SEM charcoal (the local paint store had to get a can from Salem, OR) and started painting parts. It took a couple hours to sand, hand buff, mask, scuff the black, and paint one taillight. Took another hour to just sand the mirrors. I also painted one taillight housing. It was said that white reflected better, so I painted the silver white. But there wasnt much difference in brightness when I compared the white one to another housing I restored with silver metallic paint. Time for some pics:) http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3914.jpg http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3916.jpg Wet sanded with 1500 http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3923.jpg After hand buffing the bottom half http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3932.jpg http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3935.jpg Original taillight housing http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3937.jpg After white paint http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3950.jpg Buffed lense put over the newly painted housing http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3952.jpg Masked http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3956.jpg Painted :D http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3959.jpg Before http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3960.jpg After. The new is on the left, and the restored on the right. Silver housing is on the left and white is on the right.) http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3963.jpg http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_3975.jpg :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D |
