Same drill as the rest of the body, soda blasted the hood, etch primed and 2k primed. There is a dent I need to take care of in the driver’s side front corner, but this dent is one more thing that actually helped me identify the car, long story I hope to share one day.
Now that all of the body panels are repaired, blasted primed, and have had an initial blocking I will be spraying all of them with the new Spies very high build polyester so I can get the entire body as straight and smooth as possible. My paint supplier has been talking this stuff like crazy so I figured I would give it a try. It’s essentially like skim coating the whole car, the technical manual shows you can build the coating up to 100mils. I don’t need anything that crazy but I do need to clean up what the previous painter did to my metal shell when it was prepped last time. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...dhoodmetal.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...primedhood.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...Primedhood.jpg |
Very cool Aaron! As a side note, it looks like you need to bring up the water level in your pool. :)

Great stuff! It's certainly gratifying to see one fallen SSP donating to the resurrection of another.

I primed the car, blocked the whole car the first time to find the low and high spots, fixed all those spots and now the car has been primed again.
I spent an entire weekend getting this hood perfect. I think this was round 2, by round 3 it came out perfect. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...ockinghood.jpg 2nd blocking with Spies high build spray polyester and a few spots of filler. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...blockingRH.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...blockingLH.jpg Floor boards are repaired and painted Ecoat gray. Next is the engine bay. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...andprepped.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...floorpans1.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...floorpans2.jpg |
Thanks for posting up more pictures, Aaron. The underside of your car looks soooooo nice!
:2thumbs: |
Very nice! I think you mentioned it but is that "e-coat" gray some form of a POR15? That is looking great!
|
The rear section of the car is POR15'ed Gray in color, the front section of the floor boards are DuPont base/clear that I color matched to the original e-coat gray. From the pictures its hard to tell but there is a slight shade difference. I chose to use the POR15 for the rear because I sanded blasted everything back there and wanted to make sure no corrosion would ever come back. The floor boards were about perfect so they just needed regular sanding and prep.
The POR15 gray is very close to the factory ecoat color, and it fades with UV light which makes it even closer and even gives it the hint of gray/green you see in Ford's ecoat. Due to the contour of the underbody it is really hard to pick up where the divide between the POR15 and Paint is. Once everything is repainted and installed, I don’t think anyone will ever be able to tell. |
Wow! Aaron, I am truly amazed at what you can do. :)

Sport Seats
This was the first SSP I had ever seen with Sports Seats, because of that I had asked a while back if anyone else had seen one with sport seats. My certification label shows I should have them “DA” but everything I have ever seen has been the base cloth. Some people thought they may have been swapped in by a previous owner. Well I am glad to say with 100% certainty, the sport seats that are in my car are correct!
Here is the interior pic from the article Eric Prince has posted on his Fotki album http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../KSSSPs-vi.jpg Here is the same picture in HD, lol. This clearly shows the sport seat, not the base cloth. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...l/Interior.jpg |
