Just thought I'd add the actual GSP paint code to this thread.
Notice the M6383 reference code in the one marked Police...
This is from the latest PPG chip system.

Bill,
This is the 83 we ran a Marti Report on that can back as not a SSP.
Can it be added to Vin Project with notation (not SSP) like the others? I have documentation I can post up if so... I was told originally this was an unmarked Unit and it is obviously a marked unit...
Thanks,
Bobby

I will not be posting any pics of any SSP in which a Trooper lost his life ( there was only one)
Just didn't want any confusion some of these pics does not seem like could have been survivable BUT THEY WERE . Trooper Vowell was VERY BLESSED on this Friday the 13th in 1991... The suspect he was chasing ran him off the road.

Like I stated earlier Trooper Vowell was a VERY BLESSED MAN ...

Bobby, well done as always gathering up all this information. That '83 is almost as cool as yours! Does anyone know what hubcaps those are? Man, I love that thing. Walnut is a great interior color.

Friday the 13th was indeed a lucky day for Trooper Vowell!

Thanks :-)
I have others I'm waiting for details and verification of Troopers on...
We ran a VINCHECK on it a while back and it has no records past GSP. Would be really KEWL CAR to restore for sure if it ever turns up. It was not wrecked before being turned in by Trooper so unsure why there's no record ( it COULD BE still around?)...

Those GSP roll bars really worked !!!

This Trooper was issued Perm 8344 new but at some point later was issued a used Mustang Perm 8296 and was transferred to post 6. It was after that this wreck occurred.

This pic was sent to me by Charles Walker. He knew nothing of it except he purchased it off eBay years ago. This one took a little while :-) The trooper was issued a 1988 Mustang used and probably as a temporary unit. One thing that struck my contacts strange was the fact the Trooper was wearing the old revolver and bullet clip belt (long gone by the time the 1988 Mustangs came on the scene). So best we can tell (even with the oddity) is this is a legit and authentic photo...

Easy said than done but any thought to adding a GSP resto page along with the CHP and FHP pages? You've done great work Bobby.

VERY VERY interesting.
This is only confirmed SLICK TOP of the aero cars. Confirmed by retired Post commander James Eberhert and retired Fleet Manager Jimmy Crump...

That Makes Russ's 91 a very special car indeed...

Sorry it took so long this was a tuff one! South Georgia cars are harder to track for me, but patients and persistence it paid off...

Russ as in "Stubes" Russ? Awesome indeed! Congrats Russ!

I noticed in the pic that there's something on the roof? I thought maybe a shadow at first but it actually looks silvery/metallic like a lightbar strap but it doesn't come over the gutter?? So maybe a decal or something??

Pretty cool! Did the perm # go on the roof and if so is that part of the #1?

Roof#'s were the officers Badge # as well as the Tag # 702
The Perm # was on left of trunk lid 1238

What's barely visible is the top of the 7 from roof #'s 702

MOstang 03-07-2014 08:39 AM

Ok thank you....that's not the shadow on top you were referring to, then, correct? Thanks again.

This was what I was referring to was the top of the 7 from Badge/roof #'s 702. Forgive my crude edit :D

MOstang 03-07-2014 11:02 PM

Ok thank you, that's what I thought you were referring. I must have thrown off by the reference to something looking like a lightbar strap though I read in an earlier post.

Bobby, do you have any photos of that style LTD wherr the perm number is visible? Mick and I were discussing these cars today. He has identified the VIN of a couple of these "Baby LTD" police vehicles, and I would like to get a Marti Report on one at some point (to confirm their wording of the SSP option). If we can confirm the VIN on GSP that has an in-service picture, that would be a nicely documented car.

After I finished identifying all of the Mustangs VINs from 1981 through 1993 (5.0L only for 1988-93), I did the same for LTDs. The resulting list of 1984-85 5.0L Ford LTD, as well as 1985 5.0L Marquis LTS, is here:

http://foxchassis.com/vins/LTD-Marquis/LTD-Marquis.xlsx

Bobby: Do you recognize any 1984 and or 1985 LTD GSP VINs in that list?
