Made a few passes this past Sunday :-) Found out my calipers were sticking :-( Got that fixed now....Got my GSP tag on front ... Still have to black out and install side moldings... But getting there
|
Booby, I believe you are breaking a forum rule by posting a picture from a dragstrip without including the ETs you ran. :)

Bill I did not even see this post... It's not what it ran when it was a all out drag car but I think it's pretty good considering the brakes were hold it back. It ran 8.71 in the 1/8th, but I'll try to get some better times now the brakes are fixed lol :-) |
Well new update on my 88 GSP. I spoke with the retired Fleet Manager for the GSP today. I mentioned my 88 and how I didn't know the unit # and how I'd found this 8893 written on the key and how I assumed it was my unit #... Well we all know about assuming:-) lol Well that was not a common practice for the GSP.nor did the high # of 8893 sound right to him either. He told me he personally wrote the #'s on the 88's and that it should still be there. So after arriving home I looked again... There was three stickers on core support. After looking a bit closer two were taped up and one R34 replacement decal was put on after front of core support had been resprayed. Well I peeled it of and what do I see but my elusive real unit #! 8301... I felt a little silly but releaved all at the same time. I'd always questioned my unit # being that high. 8893 would mean 893rd car bought in 88. Well now I know for certain it's there in plain site :-) but at least I don't have that nagin feeling of doubt in the back of my brain now lol... Now where did the 8893 engraving come from and what did it mean? Jones county maybe?
|
That's fantastic Bobby!! Gotta love finding out new info especially the real unit #!! Congrats!!

Yea I feel a lot better about it now. Never felt right having a # that high... |
Congrats on finding the number.

That's great, Bobby! Is there any chance you could post up a picture of it?

This sticker and one other you can clearly tell are originals, and have been taped up (sloppily too I might add) for a repaint on core support.

These were taken last night. Hard to see in these, I will try to get better ones today if not raining when I get home.

This has turned into a really fun daily driver :-) |
Had a chance to see this car when I dropped off 1537 for Bobby to work his magic. This car is very clean for a daily driver, inside and out. ;)

Looking good!

She's going back stock :-) |
Aside from the wheels, what else are you going to change back to stock? Your resto-mod CHP going to remain your SSP to have a little fun with?

Well,
I've traded my 88 # 8301 for a 89 GSP. I have another 88 located to replace this one. |

Finished putting 8301 back stock. I'm gonna miss this one. But, I've traded it for a 89 to complete my collection... Plus I've gotta a deal pending on another 88 to replace this one. Hopefully I'll have a replacement 88 with in a month. I know of a couple more if the one I really want falls through. Then I'll be done gathering them, and I can begin the process to restore them one by one until I'm done. I wanna thank everyone that has helped and supported me in this goal. It has been a little overwhelming at times :-) But it has definitely been worth all the long hours; phone calls; craigslist crazies etc.

Nice car ! It would be hard to let go of it I am sure.
Good luck and good job on your collection ! |
"Craigslist Crazies" is so true. I was offered so many trades for Honda civics and V6 stangs when I was selling mine. LOL!
