UPDATE!
I was completely wrong about the unit number. It is written in paint pen on the roof along with the mileage! It is unit M6-373 and it was wrecked out at 67,000 miles... |

I cant wait..... Ted |
Hey Ted, anything new here? :)
|
No Sir.. :(
I have it covered and stored inside. I have been extremely depressed about it. I have lost motivation for my aero cars but it's so difficult to let them go. I sit and drool over your car and now the other 86 DPS that stubes just sold is gonna get done up.. I'm not sure if my car can be fixed for sure. It sucks. I have to find someone who can fix it properly and who cares enough to do it without taking my arm. It is kinda rare with low mileage and never been painted and auctioned. And it has proof of newer equipment which I like. Something has to happen though! This is my favorite car.... |
You need to talk to Jason, I was talking with him the other day and he said he's got a frame shop up there that has a magic wand and wizards working there. Talk to him, get it pulled straight, then replace the core-support/fender aprons and start moving forward. He might have some ideas on other stuff too, we talked about your car for about 2 hours the other day. I want to see you work on it! Four-eyed cars are the best, but I could be biased. :)
|
Hey Ted.... Dont worry we will get it done right. I have all you need to fix your car from the new parts car. We just need to keep our eyes on the ball and start gathering what you need. It will take a while longer but look what you will have. Keep in touch!

Small update:
I was able to finally get the car titled in my name! :) The state had no record of this car so i was forced to get a surety bond. Now i have plates, registration sticker, and the title will be here in no time. This means that i can confidently throw money at it without the fear of never being able to drive it legally. Im stoked!! Ted |
Just got the PM, congrats Ted! I can't wait for the teardown and rebuild to commence! Absolutely fantastic news, I'm so glad this car has been given a second lease on life.

It's sad to say but I sold my 88 to a local guy who owns two other SSP cars. I told him of the sites and hopefully he will join. The proceeds will go to the 86.
Since then I have stripped down the 86' and I plan to haul it to a body shop before the end of the week. I'm kinda nervous to hear a professional report on the damage but we will see how it goes. Everyone seems to be finding cars for super cheap! And not totaled. Is it worth dropping several thousand into this one? |

Look at the future. How many of these old texas SSP's will be around? Especially four eye's? Not many and they will be desirable. Sure it's a rough shell, but it's a rare SSP not a standard 5.0 coupe. If I had money stashed, I would be out buying these cars that you all see as almost beyond fixing. Then years to come you all will regret not buying up some of these as they will cease to exist excluding restored cars. In the future people will be bringing back shells. I would if I found an 84 CHP :D Just find a fairly rust free donor car(but not too nice of a car overall) for the front clip. I would have the car put on a frame rack and have the rails straightened as good as possible near the firewall so that the new clip can go on like it should(I'll be doing that with my 84 GT, I'll also have the body shop with the frame rack cut the donor car and put on the new clip, thus everything is exactly where it should be) Can't wait to see more progress :2thumbs: |
Any updates on this? It's been a little while...
|
Anyone?
|
Great progress on the 87...
How about some details on this one:-) if you were closer I'd help you out some on frame work :-) |
Kinda like to see what happened to this one.
|
I know this is old but was this the car that was out by SAMSUNG? Thanks.
