smog reports reported to the BAR you can find them by licence plate or vin number sometimes it works other times it doesnt with the chp cars start with E then prefix for year followed by unit # and theirs your licence plate mine was E895333 the closest one to me in the pics was E895400 it was smogged two months before mine was at the same smog station in 1997 it looks like chp did their own smog because E881556 and E895250 show up being smogged at the chp motor transport

Found a couple more.
You're welcome guys:thumbsup:
Found some photos of my dads 92 and a basic story of the car. 92 CHP #9042 (wrecked fourth of july 93 or 94, officer was helping a stranded family (car broke down) on the shoulder of a highway, the officer loaded the mustang up with the mom in the pass seat and the 3 children in the back while the dad stayed with their car, another driver fell asleep at the wheel (his parents were asleep too) and drifted onto the shoulder and rear ended the mustang at 70mph as the officer was slowly rolling along waiting to merge, everyone in the mustang was injured and one of the kids was killed along with one of the sleeping drivers parents). My dad still has this car, just like it sits basically (minus most equipment, trunk decals and pass. door decals). We also have the drivers door skin with decals still applied and the front license plate:D The plate(when I saw the back of the bracket in the car I was like "there no plate on there", turned it over and was wrong lol) http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/Kid/35.jpg And I found a pic (possibly mac88chp's car) of an 88, sorry it is sideways, tried flipping in PB but it messed the photo up. Later I'll upload it again. http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/Kid/36.jpg |
Few more.

Sam, that's my car for sure. Telltale water-logged left headlight and distinctive gash on bumper cover under the right headlight confirm it.
http://images110.fotki.com/v615/phot...MG_1267-vi.jpg http://images116.fotki.com/v710/phot...an05Bvi-vi.jpg I received this similar one from either Bill Miller or Charles Ricks, can't remember who but if it's from the later then your dad may have taken it also: http://images35.fotki.com/v1170/phot...HP2000a-vi.jpg Thanks for posting up that new one! |
Bam! I took in-service shots of #1562 in 1996, it's a Santa Cruz Area unit.

If it came from Charles Ricks then my dad most likely took the photo. My dad shared quite a few of the photos he took of the mustangs with him. He was supposed to copy them and send them back, but Charles sold them to Darryl Lindsay who has been selling them along with telling buyers not to copy the photos, my dad has all the negatives though so he could if he wanted to, he could sell them. My dad may have a couple more photos of your car stashed away somewhere. |

That's sad. Thanks again for sharing these here. Like your Dad, and others, I've been fortunate to take, find, collect, etc photos of these cars and they are posted here, for all to enjoy. Keep 'em coming. |
Yeah that's great....get photos for free....sell them to somebody who sells to somebody...who's probably selling them to somebody who's probably selling them to somebody else. I guess that's the good and the bad of a free enterprise system.

I did get a chance to look at a large photo album Charles Ricks had at one time and I recall it held a pretty wide variety of photos from all states, provinces, agencies, etc. I understood Ricks had collected them from many sources and was planning to write a book about SSPs, which obviously never came about. As he was leaving the hobby he told me he had sold the photo album to Darryl. If he had a large cache of CHP photos, I never personally viewed them so that's news to me and pretty disappointing to hear about what you say. |
Found a couple interior shots (one of which shows a different dual gun rack)of mustangs at MT along with a couple other interesting photos. To be scanned and posted tomorrow.

The interesting one I found that my dad took, looks like they get bored lol. http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/Kid/41.jpg http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/Kid/42.jpg This car ^^^^ was in this row(posted photo before). http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/Kid/43.jpg http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/Kid/44.jpg Trunk shot of with equipment removed. http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/Kid/45.jpg Probably same car with the missing trunk equip(had a Uniden 8100 probably so it was reused in a Caprice or Crown) http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/Kid/46.jpg From what I can see, this car ^^^^^ was in this area(photo posted before). http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/Kid/47.jpg |

Just curious - why did your dad purchase (or acquire) that vehicle and what is his intentions with it today? ~~~~ Also, the one photo in this thread of a decommissioned X-CHP, the one interior shot shows a center windshield mount light, located behind the rear view mirror. Was this a common piece of equipment, or only installed in certain Mustang SSP's? http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...mustangGR2.jpg |

The mirror lights were being put into cars in the early 90's. 91 may have been the first year of them in mustangs. |

These pics bring back memories... I remember working "security" at the state auction when I worked at the local SO in 1999 or 2000 just south of Starke, FL when they were auctioning off a bunch of state vehicles including FHP Mustangs. I wanted to buy one so bad but being a poor Deputy all I could do is watch the luck ones with money walk away with them. We had to watch these guys because they would "disable" the cars they wanted just so everyone would think they didn't run so they could get them for a good price. I just wish I had the money I do now back then....

I had a person, (not a member here), that actually bragged to me about him and a friend disconnecting AC harnesses, or fuel pump harnesses (under the drivers seat) so they could buy the cars cheaper.
Zero integrity with these folks. |

Kids nowadays(at my school) think that the foxes are the worst and slowest mustang model. But look at them on the EVOC track going 140 and making huge clouds of smoke, you couldn't go 140 in a stock 66 2+2 which kids think are fast. I'd choose a fox over a 60's mustang anyday(unless its a 69 SCJ 4spd Mach 1, rode in my dads friends and it was freakin fast!). |

This thread's not dead yet!
COMING SOON!!!!
25+ new photos of CHP mustangs! :D :D :D :D :D |
Nice pics :) ! Pardon my lack of knowledge on the CHPs for a moment. In the 2nd photo just added are those SSPs following repaints (to the various colors that are not b&w). I like that pic.
