Exactly. That's the same info I got from Geoff. Here is a picture of the decal in my trunk. I think you called it right with the antenna, too.

Thanks for the pic Mike. I guess it was not home made after all. This one is made by Antenna Specialties or maybe its Antenna Specialists.

No prob...I think what Geoff meant is that the components were name-brand, but assembled by CHP (ie. you couldn't buy the thing off the shelf). He sent me a few different manufacturers of the boxes themselves (not the components, just the case), but I haven't had a chance to dig any deeper.

Chris, I just hooked up my whip directly to my scanner as its the only functional radio in the car. What did you get for the shotgun lock timer? I still need to add one to mine.

I would agree with Mike. That looks like the switch CHP used to allow the scanner to share the Lo-band VHF antenna. I've never seen one, but that looks about like what has been described to me by other people.

As for the antenna, based on the size of the load (the black base), I'd say that is the roof-mount Lo-band antenna that replaced the whip. Since your box contained the red/blue Signalmasters that were part of the new rear deck system, I'd guess that your equipment came off a newer-gen car that did NOT have the whip.
