Ditto on your page, Rich. Has been a fantastic resource for restoration - and one of the reasons why I went with this car after seeing what great info you posted.
Would love to get this car down to Ripon once done. You, Michael and the other CHP fellas need a little company, right? :) |
When the CHP sold the 85's there were a few colors that the CHP painted them. The Earl Schieb paint jobs were usually painted bright blue, bright red, bright yellow, and few were painted beige. There were alot more 85 cars with beige interiors as well. Around 25% of the 85 cars had the charcoal grey interiors. Those cars were usually painted silver.

More docs are coming, but got this in the mail yesterday from Jimmy - the pre-sale checklist from the CHP in 1988:

Nice! My car's ('85 CHP 8419) gray paint was badly faded, so it's very cool to see your car with some shine--makes it easy to imagine how these cars looked when they were auctioned off.
Looks like it's in great shape, and having that kind of history on the car is incredible. I'm looking forward to following your work on the car. Congratulations! |
8419? Cool! Post up some pics!!

Ryan,
I have been out of town for awhile....just saw this thread. Excellent find and what an excellent resto candidate. Good save for sure. If you build your barn 106' x 56 you can store about 20 SSP cars and still have room to work on them. ;) |
Got to love a good garage!

Ryan, my apologies for taking so long to post in your thread. Like Jim, I too was traveling (no, Jim and I didn't run away together!).
Your car looks like an INCREDIBLE find! I hope the packet of information you receive turns up more gems like that CHP inspection checklist. Thanks for posting the pictures! |
